Meetings are usually held on the first Sunday of the month from September to April at the McNabb Community Centre, 170 Percy Street, Ottawa, Ontario from 1:45 to 2:00pm to socialize, purchase horticultural supplies, and 2:00 t0 4:00pm meeting.
Meetings consist of a business portion, a chance to purchase plant supplies, a coffe and tea break, and an educational program. Visitors are always welcome.

Francine Pilon grown African violets for nearly 20 years. She specialized in Species, Trailers and Micros. Besides, she loves hybridize with the Species. This new conference, “Introduction to the world of the Saintpaulia Species and Trailers” is only an overview of these two favorite subjects. Species and Trailers alone are a whole world to discover.

How to grow Standars
Speaker: Irit Guttman
Irit is a dedicated grower who specializes in growing and hybridizing standard varieties of African violets. She will speak about how she grows her Standards and will share tips and techniques for growing healthy plants. She will give us a photographic peak into her plant room and show us some pictures of her plants, many of which she has hybridized herself and registered as official varieties.

The gesneriaceae Plants
Speaker: Maureen Mark
Maureen Mark is a very knowledgeable plant grower not only of African violets but also of many other members of the plant family to which African violets belong. She is going to highlight the range of plants that are members of the gesneriad family. She will also give us some hand-on tips, for example she may show us scaling kohleria rhizomes.
